Divorce, OMG!

I am going through a divorce. How Indians react to it? “Oh my God, what happened, you are a girl, you must adjust with your husband, your life is ruined, your husband has nothing to lose, it is you. Your life is finished.” This is just a trailer of dialogues I have been hearing and I don’t know how long will I continue to hear it.

I feel sad that I live in such a society where still they see that it is a girl who is losing everything. Why our Indian society can’t see it as a ‘blessing in disguise’. Do I deserve to live with someone who slaps me, harass me, abuses me and my parents and demands money from them?
If a guy who is going through a divorce can have second marriage, why can’t a girl can move ahead in her life. Why marriage is the ultimate destination for an Indian girl. As if every Indian girl’s life ultimate life purpose is to get married and to live on her husband’s money. Then, listen to his sarcastic remarks that her wife just sits home and do nothing. I wonder, then who cooks, cleans, and do the household chores of his house.

No matter how much our society is getting educated, but the literacy of the mind is to the lowest level. What was the point of sending your kids to studying in America, or any other country when his thoughts are so disgusting. A girl or a woman is not a subject/object to discriminate.

Why is divorce is a big deal? I think the well-wishers should be happy that my life got saved. When my husband can try to push me from the patio from the top floor. Was it safe for me to live with him any further? How others react to it? “Of course, he is your husband, you should try working out with him, cook him good food, he will stay happy with you and will not beat you.” If good food can change someone’s cruel behavior, I am sure the Indian jails would start hiring chefs from around the world to change their brutal behavior of the prisoners.

Who give anyone rights to comment about my relationship status?

I can connect to every bit if this article. Just going through that. More so I am trying my level best to be financially independent, I had so called given up on my education and career got in to clinical depression due the marital situations, the husband and the in laws. I decided to go ahead with divorce not to just get depressed staying with such ppl. I chose my life and it’s everyday’s affair in India to listen to such ppl. That second marriage is not going to be easy, a known devil is better than unknown, marriage means adjustment just to add few more..
But I guess while the over glorification of sacrificing woman is the main cause. While we live for others it’s must to live for ourselves and I choose it and I am going to make it my way now.. everyday is a challenge for me mental illnesses and divorce both are big time taboo in India. And I have decided to face it when i want to or have it and Chuck the ppl and society out of Window when I don’t need it.. I wish you are strong and you will do the things which you want.. Love and Care

Thanks for stopping by. The only way is to begin from the scratch, we can’t erase the pain we’ve gone through but surely it has made us stronger in many ways. Second marriage is definitely not gonna be easy but sometimes it is better to go with the flow when life is not under your control. Hence, do what your heart says. Feel free to connect with me as it is hard to make other people understand how does it feel being in this painful boat.
